A Fun and Functional Playroom Renovation
Ali participated as a Guest Participant for the Fall 2020 One Room Challenge. She decided to renovate a storage room into a playroom. “My style, at its core, is transitional. I love blending traditional design with modern elements to create an overall organic, comfortable feel. With that said, my design style is ever-evolving, and I’m inspired daily by other creators who evoke many different design choices. My style is a “feeling.” What feels good when you walk into a room? Do the design choices you made bring you joy, peace, a smile? That’s when I know I’ve done it right,” says Ali.
Ali’s playroom design tips:
Remember who you’re designing a space for.
This room was intended for our kids and I wanted to make sure I honored that without sacrificing style. That’s when form and function come into play.
Don’t be afraid to use beautiful, sophisticated lighting.
For instance, pair Crystorama’s wall sconces next to a kid’s toy kitchen. Those choices are a happy union that will ultimately please both kids and adults when hanging out in the room together.
