Decorating ideas with Crystal Chandelier
Years ago, crystal chandeliers were reserved for formal dining rooms. Times have changed, and now you can mix the old with new to keep things interesting and add character to a space.
Many people still think you can not mix traditional crystal with contemporary settings. These designers prove that crystal can be versatile enough to work with an array of decor styles like rustic, farmhouse, and modern.
WOODSY WONDERLAND
Brittany Hayes is the interior designer behind the blog Addison's Wonderland. What began as a children's bedding company in 2011 has evolved into home decor, lifestyle, and fashion blog focusing on incorporating bold colors and patterns to create a stunning and one of a kind space. We were so excited to partner with Brittany on her modern cabin breakfast nook.
In April 2020, Brittany purchased a fixer-upper cabin that she could use as an investment property and rent out. "Winnies Woodsy Wonderland" is a modern rustic getaway in the beautiful North Georgia mountains that showcases her love for creating whimsical and colorful spaces. "What jumpstarted the design for the breakfast nook was the beautiful teal velvet curtains that perfectly complimented the kitchen wallpaper. From there, I wanted a simple yet cozy, sophisticated space that transitioned the kitchen into the living room. I loved the amber color of the Crystorama Traditional crystal chandelier. It picked up the gold tones in the kitchen wallpaper and created such a fun mix of styles that I always love to create," says Brittany.
You can book a getaway with family and friends at Brittany's and enjoy 20 miles of hiking trails, a Jeep trail, 3 waterfalls, and 3 lakes with stunning views of the Blue Ridge mountains.
A MOODY COLOR SCHEME
Ursula Carmona is the creative mind behind the DIY and design blog Home Made by Carmona. When she isn’t sharing her decorating, DIY, and organizing expertise, she’s homeschooling her three dynamic daughters or playing board games with her husband. We met Ursula last year when we partnered with her for her One Room Challenge project, and we were thrilled to work with her again to refresh her dining room light fixture.
The dining room was inspired by the sophisticated styling of old Parisian architecture and fixtures. She incorporated traditional molding elements, touches of brass, then added jeweled tones and dark paint colors to bring her own look to the space. “I adore the new take on an old-world traditional chandelier! I think it brings a classic charm to a new space. The brass connecting pieces have almost an art deco look, and the vibrant gold is the perfect contemporary metallic hue. I knew it would be perfect in the room,” says Ursula.
Ursula’s home was recently featured in Better Homes & Gardens. You can read the full article here.
ParIsian Glamour
Lexie Pyfrom is the brains behind J'adore Lexi Couture, a blog focusing on beauty, fashion, and home decor. Her style is romantic, feminine, and fairytale-esque. She takes her readers to her happy place to share her style and dreamland that she hopes inspires others to pursue what truly gives them butterflies, makes them feel confident and good about themselves regardless of what others will say.
Lexi utilizes crystal chandeliers throughout her home as it adds just the right amount of elegance and romantic ambiance to the room. Lexi reached out to us for her master bedroom refresh. Her design inspiration was based on an old Parisian apartment with a nod to Marie Antoinette's Versailles. "When adding a crystal chandelier to a room with antique-like pieces, I think it's best to add a mix of modern pieces as well to create a balance that doesn't feel traditionally stuffy or granny-esque. I like to add modern rugs, throw pillows, modern books, and magazines to help create a balance to the room", says Lexi. Instead of going with a modern fixture and adding that to this space, the Crystorama Traditional Crystal chandelier was the essential piece to lay the foundation of what I envisioned for my inspiration."
SOFT & DREAMY BEDROOM
Ruby Shero is a DIY and Decor Instagram influencer. Ruby shares her home and frequently posts DIY design projects that are not only fun to watch but gives excellent tips on designing on a budget. For her bedroom, she wanted a mix of contemporary styling with a bit of glam. “I wanted soft colors, so I chose white as the main scheme color for the room, which I knew would make the room look more serene. Lastly, to draw the elegant and glam touch to the room, I decided to go with crystal clear lamps and brass decorative pieces. I chose the Candance Traditional Crystal chandelier in Polished Brass to create a statement and be the jewelry of the room,” says Ruby.

A CENTERPIECE TO THE ROOM
Stephanie Wilson is a mother, Florida native, and creator behind Palm Grove Farmhouse. She just completed her custom farmhouse in Vero Beach, a blend of modern, vintage, and rustic, and shares all the details on her blog and Instagram. We worked with Stephanie to help her find the perfect crystal chandelier for her butler's pantry. "My design inspiration for our pantry is simply timeless. I seek design elements that are vintage inspired such as the marble backsplash, glass cabinets, and brass hardware. Since the butler's pantry is a fun space to entertain, the Roslyn chandelier's crystals worked so well in this room. It added a dynamic pop of glamour and style," says Stephanie.
"My advice on incorporating crystals for a modern farmhouse is to go for it! Crystals add whimsy, sparkle, and a historical quality to any space. Finding the right balance between crystal chandeliers and modern farmhouse style allows the chandelier to be the centerpiece of your room. Keep other design elements clean and crisp."
