A Guide to Hallway Lighting

Whether you are looking to make a bold statement or something more subtle, lighting options can be endless, and we gathered plenty of stylish options to brighten your hallway.

When it comes to hallway lighting, functionality is the first consideration, but that does not mean you need to sacrifice style. Flush and semi-flush fixtures are outstanding design elements and are ideal for 8’ ceilings. These fixtures should not exceed 14” in height so an individual can clear the fixture when walking underneath. On an 8’ ceiling, the bottom of the fixture to the floor should be approximately 7’. Be conscious of the door opening into the fixture. If this is the case, make sure the fixture is no taller than 10’ in height.

If you have a high ceiling, don’t be afraid to try a dramatic chandelier or two to make a statement. You can also layer in light with wall scones that coordinate or try contrasting colors to offer a unique twist.
